Makeup is a tricky item to remove from your carpet because of the different makeup items and the bright colours frequently used. Makeup can be anything from mascara, eyeliner, foundation, primer, eye shadow, lipstick, lip gloss, eyebrow pencil and more. First you should identify what the carpet stain is. Then you should figure out its solution base ie. If the makeup water based, oil based, powder or waterproof. Here is a general guide for removing makeup stains from carpet

Foundation

Most foundation is oil based and can get deep within carpet fiber. The makeup stain should come out easily with a clean cloth and 3% Hydrogen peroxide solution. If the stain is large you can blot the edges with clean paper towel. Do not rub the stain!

Mascara -Non-Waterproof

Mascara can be tricky to remove. If regular non-waterproof mascara gets into the carpet it can be removed with a solution of water and dish soap. You need one cup of water with a 1/4 teaspoon of dish soap. Use a damp cloth to gently transfer the stain out of the carpet.

Mascara -Waterproof

Waterproof mascara can be difficult to remove. It’s oil based and will require another oil-based solution to help remove it from the carpet. Place a small amount of baby oil on a clean cloth and gently rub the stain. Once the stain is adequately remove, is warm soapy water to clean up remaining oil and residue.

Eyeliner -Pencil

Pencil eyeliner can be easily removed with a clean cloth and soapy water. Similarly to regular mascara removal, you will need 1 cup of water and 1/4 teaspsoon of dish soap.

Eyeliner – Liquid

This eyeliner is oil based and baby oil can be used to remove it. Place a small amount of baby oil on a clean cloth and gently transfer the stain. Follow up with cleaning using a dish soap solution.

Lipstick or Lip Gloss

Rubbing alcohol can be used to remove lipstick. First place alcohol on a clean cloth and then rub the stain gently.

Eye Shadow

Eye shadow come in powder form. This can be easily vacuumed up from the carpet. If some residue remains use a damp cloth with mild dish soap to remove it.
