Give a retro shelf new life by restoring it. One of the simplest ways to revamp a shelf is to repaint it. It might not be a good idea to just paint over it. If the shelf has been painted too many times the paint will be chunky and uneven. There is a simple and easy way to remove paint without hard chemicals.

You Will Need:

  • A Paint Remover Gun
  • Newspaper
  • Spray Paint
  • A Mask

Place your shelf outdoors under newspaper or any other thick paper. If the shelf has removable pieces place them on paper as well.

Heat up the paint remover gun. When it is hot enough use the place and heat to scrape off old paint. Scrap in the direction of the wood grain or it will be hard to remove.

Once the paint is removed you can paint the shelf with the spray paint. Have the spray can about a foot or more away from the wood while you paint. This prevents drips from occurring.

When your shelf is dry you can place it where it is needed.
